BABS was built with a vision to uplift the community and improve the quality of life. This community development project was a partnership between Mobil, City of Cape Town and the community.

  • Established in April 1973
  • Brain child of  Prof. van der Ross & Mr George Gibbs.
  • For the past 38 years BABS:
  • Has developed from just an Educare to a Community  Centre
  • Core business is People (community development)
  • Is a valuable asset to the Athlone area
  • Is well positioned
  • Is strategically placed – Accessible
  • Has established infrastructure
  • Has addressed the high rate of social problems in the community
